Ok, you are on a deserted island or you are in a far out isolated area, and you are alone. Ammo is no problem as you will a sufficient amount of the gun/caliber that you choose....Pick the Ruger revolver and caliber, and the semi auto & caliber. And maybe, just maybe, you could pick a 3rd Ruger gun of your choice as an alternate. What do you think ? Again, ammo choice no problem.

If I have a Ruger revolver, .357 or larger, I sure wouldn't need any Ruger semi auto pistol. But if I had to choose a semi, it would be a SR1911, either in 10mm or .45.

And since it's a remote deserted island, I could carry a rifle, and not need a handgun at all.

My choice then could be any M77 derivative .30 or larger, or any Ruger/Marlin lever gun in any of the chamberings available today.

Many unanswered questions before choosing.

"Alone" as in no humans on the island, or you have no support against other inhabitants?

Am I required to hunt for my food?
Yes, you are alone.....as far as you know......and yes, you have to hunt for food. Be it meat or vegi.

This is probably the bazzillionth time this question has been posed. It's always been fun to answer IMHO.
I would, of course, pick a revolver... it wouldn't matter single or double action... caliber would be .38/.357.
Absolutely would not bother with a semi auto anything... they break more easily; and would not add anything of value to justify maintaining or carrying the added weight.
If I were required to pick a rifle...it would be a Remington Mod. 788 bolt gun in 7mm-08. They are laser accurate and super strong brutes..... way too heavy to carry, but make a great tent main-post when not hunting.
IMHO,
J.

Please choose a Ruger revolver and a Ruger semi auto pistol, and as an alternate, please pick any Ruger product gun. Thanks......

Yeah, these scenarios always thought provoking & fun. But this lacking some info IMO.

The Ruger revolver, A big bore NM Blackhawk hands down for me. If it's 45 I'll ask for a convertible. Otherwise, a 44 mag.

An auto? for what? too many questions here. Small game rim fire or centerfire pistol, or rifle????

Third or bonus choice? A particular dependable, accurate 77/22 AW with irons & a scope I have is hands down slated for the win on my list.

The list can & should continue to add others or consider the times & these times throw out a lot of previous thoughts on last ditch guns IMO.

For me, I would go with a stainless short barrel combo Blackhawk for the 357/38 and with the 9mm cylinder......for the semi auto, give me a KP95DC And for my alternate Ruger product, how can I go wrong with a good old 10/22 !!!

You are thinking. That's what this is all about. I just posted what I would choose. Have fun 🙂

For me, I am changing mind about my 3rd gun alternate. As much as I love the 10/22, I would rather have the new Ruger/Marlin 336 lever action in 30-30.....there I am set. 🙂🙂
