Yes, no, maybe. IMO -Depends on the quality of the gun/barrel. I personally have, and love this.

I like the contendors. Had a 35 rem. That gun is made for 410 and 45. To me the smart and safe answer is no i wouldnt do it. He is easy to put ideas in his head. It would probably work as long as he wanted but im not going give the ok

I had a Contender barrel for .45 Colt/.410 once. It worked fine, no complaints.
Taurus has a whole line of revolvers and revolving rifles chambered for .45 Colt/.410. and S&W has a revolver also that can even shoot .45 acp.
The problem shooting .45 Colt in a .410 single barrel shotgun might be the choke, otherwise most single shots have a lot of steel at the chamber end of the barrel.
I doubt he would get any accuracy, unlike with the other combinations I mentioned which all have rifled barrels.

The British chambered No 1 Mk III Lee-Enfield rifles in .410 for issue to native troops. These chamber and fire .45 Colt without issue as they were made for rifle pressures. The Brits were also thinking and using .455 ammo in them.

To quantify my response above,, I based it upon the statement; "Hes been watching to much you tube."

Sadly,, too many people do not study firearms enough to understand the physics, the limitations, or many other things relevant to SAFE shooting.
Can you do as the friend asked? An educated answer is; "Sometimes,, depending upon the gun, and how the chambers are cut. Follow the manufacturers instructions before you attempt such things."

I too have a Contender barrel which allows the use of .45 Colt & .410. BUT,, you can NOT shoot it with the choke tube installed. I have shot a few Judges,, and they are built to be capable of using both.
And the Bond Arms,, again, it was built to be able to use both. So,, by following what the manufacturers recommend,, you may or may NOT be able to do so safely.

Hmmmm................none of my guns have ".45 LC" on the barrel. Fortunately I have no .45LC smmunition on hand.

I have several handguns that shoot .45 Automatic Colt Pistol and others that shoot .45 Colt. I load my own and put them in plastic boxes, using a Dymo label maker to ID the boxes. To distinguish the difference in my ammo locker, and to save Dymo tape, I label them either 45 ACP or 45 LC.

I agree with your comment. It's just so sad that some people that use firearms are somewhat clueless. But so be it. This afternoon I'll be working on a revolver with a Partridge sight.
