I have to hang the trash bucket in my outside kitchen up under the roof so that my dog Beauregard won't get into it and spread stuff all over the yard.... lately I had to stop putting stuff in it because if I did a bird would fly out... finally looked and there was a nest in there... and so I moved one of my security cameras over to above it to just watch.... not the best resolution or color because of the location but this is a short video of what is going on. Pretty sure it is Carolina Wrens.

Edit: See my post from Sunday

Nice! You're going to leave them there right?

My wife has a metal rack with some potted flowers on it outside. A couple of doves built a nest and had babies. It was fun to watch, but we couldn't use that back door because we didn't want to bother them. They came back two years in a row, and just the other night we saw momma and daddy in the tree outback. We never moved their pot, so hopefully they will use it again sometime.

I can watch them on one of the monitors in my office, yesterday I was trying to figure out how often they get fed.... I will say they are getting fed a lot.
Just hope the rat snake that lives in our attic does not get to them.... it might be waiting for them to get good and fat first.

Yep,, a black snake can & will get to birds if they find them.

There are methods of hanging stuff to where a snake can't get to a nest. Thin steel wire, strung between (2) points, and the bucket suspended in-between. Making sure the bucket is lower than any above wood that the snake could use as a way to "hang down" and get into it.
If you choose to do this while the nest is active,, do it during the daytime, and move it gently when you know the adults aren't inside. Simple movement of just a few feet can make a big difference.

So Saturday (yesterday) morning I check the monitor of the camera at about 10:30 and I can't see any little birds and when Momma or Daddy flew in no little mouths jut out. The day before they were wiggling and actually coming out of the nest a bit more. I had finally been able to count 4. So I go back and watch the recording and at exactly 9:30 yesterday morning all four scramble out of the next and jump around for a second and then fly out of the bucket. Not sure if they could fly yet... yesterday afternoon I took a big plant of my wife's out to the back yard and one was running around on the ground. But it seems our attic snake did not get them... at least not while they were in the nest. Now I'm wondering if it Momma and Daddy will start all over again.

Well, it was about time for them to start their own life. Most likely they have developed their flight abilities by now. Things do go quickly in the animal world.
