Thanks. Do the fish like their artificial reef?
I have never asked one. ;) Fish are re-stocked in the Marina periodically. Recently Tiger Trout were released there. Fishing is legal as long as one has a license. There is a weekend for kids to go fishing in a section of the marina that is netted off so most if not all will get at least one catch.

BIRD WATCHERS: anyone know what this bird is? snapped a pic on the sandy beach of the marina where nearby there are many bushes where ducks, geese and possibly seagulls lay their eggs and hatched.

Early 90's I was up at the Dodd Beals fire school. Spent my afternoons fishing locally. Not bad. I seem to recall a bridge that was pretty popular, can't remember the name.

I'm sure I am not the only one here that will beg to defer. In every city and in most towns there's at least one martial arts studio that teaches some form of stick work. Within 30 minutes of me there's hopkido, shidokan, fencing (easy to substitute a stick for a saber or epee'), and three Filipino Martial Arts gyms. There's also a single stick club.

My choice is the FMA and after 40 years of training and having actually had to have used it in combat (collapsible baton), I assure you that you are incorrect.
The stick work is done well into your hand-to-hand training. It is an extension of your training, not a mainstay. The cane is used in hapkido, the jo is used in hapkido (short stick) and the bo staff in Taekwondo.

I am 50 years old now and still walk assisted by a cane when out of my home. A car accident 3 hrs ago causes this. Mine is hickory, made by a friend. It is an option for defense that I am glad to have, even though I carry. The question was asked earlier in this thread what to do with it while sitting in a restaurant. Just like I would never lay my handgun in the seat next to me, neither would I my stick. You just figure it out.

I'm at the point I feel "unarmed" and "missing something" when in public without the cane. Tomorrow I'm going somewhere with both the handgun and the cane. But admit to often going to the grocery store-daytime and good location-without a handgun but with the cane.

I am in the process of making two sticks out of my Japanese maple it very hard wood . When I trim my maple I always find some nice pieces for a cane or a short walking defense stick they come out really nice . These aren't finished
