A Special Request _UPDATE 5/2/2024

There is a couple in my Sunday School class that is undergoing some very tough times. Their names are Jerri and James Scott, in their early sixties, I'd guess. She has been battleing cancer for the past two and a half years, cancer of the tongue. Her progress aganst the cancer has been good, but slow, But the aggressive treatment has cost her her teeth, and she is now facing oral surgery and having dentures made. From what I have learned, the surgery and procedures will be maybe six months before she has teeth again.
My Sunday School teacher just called me this morning telling me she fell last night and broke her hip.

Her husband, James, is a good friend of mine, and is terribly drained through all of this. They have exhausted their insurance coverage and face debts of around $7000. He is still working and trying to work as much overtime as possibl to help pare down the debt.

iI learned that she went home yesterday (Wednesday 5/1/2024). Her plevis is fractured, but no surgery is required. Should heal itself in about six weeks. She has gained one pound recently.

Prayers for both from South Dakota.

I visited the hospital this afternoon and saw both of them there, husband and wife. Later my Sunday School teacher called me as he had been up there well after my visit. The orthopedic doctor had been in. There is a bright spot, the break is a crack that will not require surgery and should heal itself in approximately six weeks.

P.P. This lady has been unable to eat for much of this time. She now weighs about 92 pounds.
