I was going to say it is a flaring tool for enlarging a metal hole. My father made one so he could put leaded gas in our unleaded vehicles... back when they still had it. Then I realized the one he made, he was a machinist, was made of brass so it would not make a spark as you hammered on it.

It is a "Greenfield Tool and Die" logo stamped on the tool. Search their catalog and see what you find
Thanks, when I searched the letters on tool that didn't come up. I looked up the company and didn't find any information on it. I sent them an email with pictures to see if they can identify and explain its use.

It's checkered for a grip. Maybe a "reamer" or "polishers" to remove saw marks on copper tubing as well as expanding/flaring???

Does it have hammer marks on the dull end of it?
It looks like an expander for copper tube after cutting it with a tube cutter.
Correct or not, that's what it would be doing for me.
Looks like it was never struck, or if it was they used a brass or plastic tip hammer.

Are there any flats, steps or index marks on the taper? It may be a taper Gage used to check a tapered hole for correct depth. These (taper gages) were also used with prussian blue to check for contact area and verify the hole is the correct taper.
None of those, just a smooth taper.
