I've started in on reloading for my Mini 14. Anyone have any favorite 55gr or 62gr recipes they'd care to share? I'm primarily interested in nice tight groups at 100 yds.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum and understand you should always start lower (powder wise) than anyone recommendations/suggests. That is what reloading manuals are for. Remember, no two firearm are alike.
My Min-14 likes the following recipe:
Winchester brass, Rem 7-1/2 benchrest primers, Benchmark powder, seating depth of 2.265", Nosler HPBT 69 grain bullets. 2970fps
With that I am able to get 1moa.
My mini's receiver and barrel has been cryogenically treated and I shimmed the action to the stock (have not bothered to bed the action since 1 moa is satisfactory.

I use 748 powder and have had good luck.....agree with above op.... start loads on lighter side and work up from there...

You might not want to limit your bullet selection. Try super light to super heavy along with several bullet profiles. You might be THE ONE to discover the magical load???

I have loaded TAC with a 55grn FMJ and had decent results. I have no great expectations of my Mini I just accept and love it for what it is. I recently tried some Speer 62 grn FMJ bullets and had some better results than with the 55 I also used TAC powder.I'm using TULA SRP/standards. I have plenty of Sierra 69grn bullets but have not tried them yet along with a multitude of other powders geared towards 223/556. I have only had the rifle for a month or so and bought it NIB so I am learning as we go. I have done nothing to the rifle other than clean/lube and fire it & it has been great so far. I will continue to work up loads and report back if I find something exceptional!

For a 580-up series, 1-9 Twist Mini-14:
62 Grn Hornady FMJ....IMR-4895...Federal Match primer.
If you can't find IMR-4895, use H-4895. If you can't find either, Varget works well. The exact load recommendations for either three can be found in most any reloading manual.

Just as a side note, A Match primer won't help much until you start shooting at 200 Yds or better. In any event, at some point you're going to have to get off the bench and start practicing from the 3 NRA Service Rifle positions. Otherwise, you'll never learn to really shoot. And besides, Ruger's Mini is not (and never has been) a "bench rest gun". So if that's what you're hoping for, you're likely going to be sorely disappointed.

The Mini is not generally known for this. Some will meet that expectation but are rare.
The are no 'magic loads' so pick a bullet that you hope will meet your needs, a powder within the burn rate for the cartridge, and what ever primers are available. Put the combo together using published data and see what happens.
Hornady & Nosler bullets have generally performed well for me as have CCI primers. H335 or Exterminator powders have been fairly easy to work with. The rest is trial and error.

First two targets are one of my accuracy target loads.
Third target is my Coyote load.
For general plinking, my load is:
55 fmj
25.6 of TAC
Any SRP
2.230 OCL.
This load gives me under about
1.5 MOA

Great shooting for sure and good loads it looks like. Now if I may ask, what have you done to your rifle, anything, mine is the newer version,585 I think,is your older or newer? Have you added a stabilizer, bedded the action, etc. I have tons of 69 SMK so will be looking at those in the near future for sure. Thanks for the info.
