P91DC PARTS

I recently picked up a P91DC and though I saw the right side mag release missing (Ruger PN KV02600). I thought it would be easy to fond the part. Ruger site says no have. (However I'll call Monday to be sure) I checked Gun parts (Numrich), & Brownell's. Either no listing or out of stock.
Anyone know of or have a reliable source?

Another option is to reach out to local gunsmiths or gun shops. They might have some resources or connections that aren't immediately obvious online. And don't discount the power of good old-fashioned persistence! Keep checking back with those sites, or set up alerts for when the part comes back in stock. You never know when something might turn up.

'Broker has P parts at times, full slides, barrels, springs etc., though they've gotten a bit pricey since I bought mine for a P95.

What I was wondering is if the part is the same as other P series pistols.... often it is....

Pretty sure all the P-guns use the same mag release system. You should be able to find a P89 part. There was tons of that model made.

Check on Gun Broker. There are a few on there who sell parts kit everything except the frame with a serial number. I bought a used parts kit for my P95 a few years ago for $59. Everything all the small parts including the barrel and slide except the frame. The price might not be that low now though.

I think as was mentioned above that the P89 part would fit. Call Ruger and ask them ?? Good luck!

The P89 parts look identical to the 91 although all the sources I could find used different part numbers, including Ruger. But they sure look identical to me, and was going to order one from Numrich. I did find some that listed kits but were out of stock. Then The-Leper-Colony pointed me to gun broker & there was a kit available. It'll be here soon.

Speaking of parts like this that can't be found.... I know one would need an original part or I would suspect that somewhere in Ruger's archives is a mechanics drawing of the specific part, they have to have it. At some point in time there was a machine or machines and a machinist making this part... why in the world could not someone make a replacement? My father spent 40 years of his life doing this kind of work.

I agree. What happened to the machine and the tooling that did this in the first place? IMO, they never should have dropped the P Series at all. Because they worked very well, but yes, I know the old marketing thing. "If everyone has already bought them, let's make something else".....

My theory is they pretty much perfected their P Series pistols and could not make any improvements and so the people in the design department at corporate get itchy britches and have do something to justify their jobs..... you have to watch out for things like this....

Sig has to a degree bought into this, with their P320 and P365....but .... they still make the P226, which is a classic.... all be it they get squirrely with their marketing..... they got me to a degree with their Legion Series... of which I now am a member of 'The Legion'.

I agree completely with your first paragraph....as far as the second paragraph, my son loves his P226 with the Navy symbol on it.....Me, I love the good old P225.....Yes they were classics.

Star43, the one with the Navy symbol is called the MK25 and is phosphate coated inside so you can swim in the ocean with it.... in theory. I think just another hype from Sig since the Navy Seals used these at least for a while. Not putting the pistol down, just saying to a degree it is marketing....

Here is my MK-25, but I did a slight modification on it... the slide is from another P226 and I had it coated to try and match the lower and it is chambered in 357 Sig.

It looks very nice. You did a good job. I was just curious why you did that ? What happened to the original slide ? Just wondering? It Looks good though. My son loves his, says it's a tack driver. He carries another smaller Sig for every day. I haven't seen either one though as he lives in Georgia. I've got one son but lives 3000 miles away. I'm lucky to see him once a year. They have another baby coming in late August so we will be going to see all of them in September.

I have been purchasing parts and kits off there for a while now.....have not been dissappointed yet.

I believe the term was "Planned Obsolescence".
