I was impressed by the C-46's that were at Portland Int'l Airport in the mid to late 1960's. Flying Tiger Airlines IIRC. Bigger than the C-47 and longer range. Both planes were special I think.

One time a plastic surgeon I knew was on an "I hate lawyers" rant. I mentioned to him that if he ever went to court he might want one on his side. Slowed the rant down a bit.

Market and availability.

I've had the same happen in a local gun store. I went in to buy a certain shotgun. They talked and talked and I left. Their loss then and in the future. It wasn't a special shotgun but a run-of-the-mill current production model. Oh well.

You beat me to it. I believe the Chinese bought it when it was under construction when the Soviet Union collapsed. They bought it with the cover story of it being for an amusement park or some such. With Google maps I used to scan the Chinese coast and regulary find it docked up near Korea.
