    KMK514 Question

$412.90 OTD which I thought was a really good price considering the condition and the CT grips even though nothing else came with it. However I've never seen the utility of laser grips on a .22 and they've already been replaced with original plastic grips. CT grips may show up later in the...

New old guy with question about gun weight

Which begs the question, how did Strom Troopers keep their armor and guns clean? It's a dirty world out there.

    KMK514 Question

It's not in that serial number range.

    KMK514 Question

Yeah, after considering them a bit I realized they're identical to the CrimsonTrace grips that came on my KMKIII45HCL. I'm guessing that Ruger didn't ship a MKII with MKIII style grips, especially in 1992. It looks like I have a non-mysterious KMK514. I'll probably just pop them off, put on the...

    Lipsey Ruger Significance?

What Gator89 said plus some distributor models have desirable (to some folks) features unavailable on the Ruger standard offerings. As an example, the KMK4BL shown above is the only all stainless steel Mark with a 4" bull barrel that Ruger has made, so far.

New old guy with question about gun weight

You didn't indicate if you were looking for a new or a used pistol. You also didn't indicate what barrel length you were looking for. You did say you previously owned a MKII and you had (recently?) purchased a MKII Competition Target Model which has a 6 7/8" barrel. Have you considered a MKIV...

    KMK514 Question

I believe the bolt is original. No way to tell for sure, but based on the newish condition of the pistol and it's visible parts, I kind of doubt it. I'll have a little better feel for it once I've done a detail cleaning.

    KMK514 Question

Yes, there is a difference. My KMK678 is a model 00184 and it's from 2000.

    KMK514 Question

The KP514 was my first 514 but I never really warmed up to it. Here it is with my other KMK514 (00181). Maybe I'll find a blue one some day. Anyone know how many models there are of those???

    KMK514 Question

Stopped at a LGS this afternoon to do a little browsing. Imagine my surprise when I saw this in a showcase, and at a very reasonable price especially with the CrimsonTrace grips. Brought it home even though I already have one, or so I thought. What you see is what I got. So here is what I...

Mark I, II, III & IV

    The Mark I was either a T-514 (5 1/4" tapered target barrel), T-512 (5 1/2" target bull barrel) or a T-678 (6 7/8" tapered target barrel). Ruger did not make a Mark I with a 6" barrel.

Mark I, II, III & IV

I guess that's why Ruger makes different stuff because people like different stuff. The "right price" is part of the reason I bought it.

Mark I, II, III & IV

Sad story. Dealer at the show had a nice looking HS 106 or 107. I never got a close look at it because three guys were standing and talking in front of the dealers table and it sold before I could get to it.

Mark I, II, III & IV

I already had these, I - III: But a really good price at a gun show yesterday finally tempted me to add this 75th Anniversary IV: Some day I'll add an A-54 frame T-678.

Yeah, auction houses are starting to act a lot like Al Capone.
