    Book Recommendations

Great recommendations posted by one and all... I just finished reading a book I picked up at the Sparks Library freebie book shelves. It is called Act of Treason by Vince Flynn. It is an advance uncorrected proof. It has a few spelling errors, but not much to detract from the main plot. Flynn...

    Ancient Technology

I have over 200 cassette tapes, a Radio Shack portable player and a boom box that can play the tapes. I also have, four still in original wrapping, of VHS tapes; two CD/DVD/VHS player-recorders. I miss being able to play my cassette tapes in my old Plymouth Duster. I had to switch to CD's when I...

    Bearcat

My Bearcat was a gift for my B-Day in 2012 by an old GF. According to serial # it was mfg. in 1968 and shipped in 1962. While I loved the engraving on the cylinder, overall, gun was a little small for my hand. When my son and G'daughter went out shooting with it, they both loved it, so I gave it...

    Sports can be funny...

Would like this thread to be about a funny thing while you were playing a sport, any sport. This happened to me... I was the pitcher for the Comstock Casino city league softball team. During the game on a foul pop-up down the first base line, I went over to catch the ball, but got knocked down...

New old guy with question about gun weight

Welcome from Sparks, NV. I, too had the same problem when I got around to purchasing a .45 which I carried during the early 60's. However, when I went to my LGS, I found it to be too heavy. I had read about the Ruger P345 and found it to be more manageable. I also started purchasing various...

Horatio Hornblower series by C.S. Forester are great reads, sort of like Richard Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwall. Don't know which were written first though. One if by land the other by sea! Both highly recommended!

    The Boneyard at Davis-Monthan AFB

If there is yet another non-nuclear war, I was wondering if many-several of those planes could be fitted with GPS/AI, etc. to be used against any enemies, even if they were not as technically advanced as theirs. Might make good drones or kamikaze planes? Just a thought...

    Have to hide your boat

After a small earthquake my wife noticed the chimney which we never used as we were sensitive to the smoke, we had a handyman tear it all down, which left a large portion of the wall which used to be the entrance to a garage/converted to a den, quite bare. My wife asked me what to do. I told her...

Early 60's: I read several books about submarines. Sadly, I don't remember authors nor titles, but they showed me that I might be a little claustrophobic. Books and movies and about subs can make good horror/suspenseful stories.
