    Ruger Hawkeye African 6.5X55

I think that scope looks great on that rifle. That is the one I put on my 6.5x55 Ruger.

New Ruger Hawkeye African in 9.3x62

rangerbob, I live and hunt in Romania. I use Geco ammunition in many of my hunting rifles. I use the 255 grain 9.3x62 load exclusively in my African. It is superbly accurate and the "Plus" bullet has an outstanding record over here for complete penetration on large boars. I also use Geco 55...

    Ruger Hawkeye African 6.5X55

Some folks do not like that the Swede requires a long action. I like the fact that it is built on a long action. A little mentioned fact about the long action vs short action is that, on many bolt rifles, especially CRF guns, a long action has a slightly smoother bolt cycle and is less likely to...

Minor repairs on the Guide Gun laminate stock finish

bittereinder, I have occasionally used the BC stock Sheen over the years and will agree with you that it seems to do wonders with small stock blemishes. Good stuff. RJ

    New 77/357 scope mount question

None that I know of. I made my own short rail for attaching small red dot sights. [/url [url=https://postimg.cc/Z088pTHL]

Installed a new trigger in my No.1 yesterday

Thanks Mark. While I had it apart I also did a speed hammer mod by drilling the hammer. It weighed 630 grains before drilling. I took it down to 400 grains. I read that you should not go below 325 grains to prevent ignition problems. I have an "extra power" hammer spring on the way from Wolf, to...

Installed a new trigger in my No.1 yesterday

Donnie, it was really not that difficult putting that trigger together. I just cut a thin piece of metal that would fit in the slots already cut in the factory trigger and sear, epoxied the piece in place with the trigger and sear installed in the receiver. After the epoxy cured, I removed the...

Installed a new trigger in my No.1 yesterday

I have a Ruger No.1 (K1A) in 6.5x55 Swede. I decided I wanted a good trigger on it. I was a bit skeptical about the reported claims of very low weight of pull on Jards No.1/No.3 trigger. So skeptical that I first built a copy of the Jard trigger using a stock trigger and the sear. I was...

    Ruger M77 African Rifle

Maybe the "most wanted" of the African models is the 9.3x62. I don't believe any of the "Africans" are marked as such. That being said, to me the only ones that should be called "African" are the ones that at least have the sling stud on the barrel and the non elevation adjustable express blade...

    Ruger Number 1 Sight Options

Joe S. The drilling and tapping that I was talking about I did was on M77's. I should have said that. I use a modified X/S ghost ring sight on my No.1 like in the pictures I posted above. This sight now has a small thumb wheel on one side, instead of the torx screw so I can attach it without...

    Taller No 1 Sight Blade

X/S makes flat top, white line front sights for the Ruger #1 & M77 up to .600" tall. If they don't make the exact size you need, 'you can file the top down on one that's close. I have considerable capitol invested in X/S sights. I think they are the best available.

    Ruger Number 1 Sight Options

That's the kicker, drilling that hole. If you go there, you better have it done professionally, unless you have experience at it. I've done half a dozen or so for X/S sights. Solid carbide drill bits are your friend. RJ

    Ruger Rings-

They may look tall by themselves, but just remember they clamp directly to the receiver rather than sit on top of a base that is already .2" or higher. RJ
