Get a new unfired, un-sized case. Check the length. Seat a bullet short of the lands. If it is hard to chamber and extract you have a carbon throat problem. If not it is your sizing methods. Forget the Wilson case length headspace gauge and forget looking at the SAAMI minimum chamber and...

If this is the gauge, with the correct insert, that you are using your are fine. https://www.hornady.com/headspace-bushings#!/ However, the Hornaday base is a POS from a repeatability point of view. If you are using the Hornady OAL gauage it is for bullet seating depth not case headspace. Neck...

Sizing the brass has reduced the neck OD. Measure the neck OD on the un-sized brass. If it is larger than .260 that is the problem caused by the brass manufacturer. If it is less than .260 you probably have a severe carbon ring. Case headspace is a major issue with the Swift. Due to the...

Logically, there can only be two causes of your problem. First, it can be your rifle. If it is a factory Ruger rifle you can rule out a short rifle chamber because all factory built rifles are test fired before leaving the factory. The other rifle related item could be a bolt problem. You...

The Swift is one of the rare calibers that needs to be full length sized after every firing. Do you have any fired cases from when you did not have an extraction problem? If not, do you have any new unfired cases. Once you tell me that I can advise you how to proceed.

New die doesn’t give enough shoulder bump

You were probably sent a die based on a reamer other than what was used to chamber your rifle. I had problems with Redding in the past concerning an Ackley Improved caliber. It turned out they sent me a die based on Clymer reamer specs and my chamber was reamed with a JGS. Almost no one uses...

    Following up on "old powder"

The only difference in burn rate that I am aware of was with pre 1973 IMR 4831 which was previously military surplus 4831. Actually the pre '73 surplus powder had a slower burn rate. I would venture to say that you can apply current reloading data to your 30 year old powders. As I stated in...

    Polymer jacket ammo

I rarely buy factory loaded ammo. I have been using powder coated semi wadcutter in pistols and revolvers for target use. Unquestionably the powder coated bullets eliminate lead and copper fouling and make cleaning a breeze. No smoke from bullet lube either.

Not quite sure why you would anneal new brass as most of the reputable makers anneal necks before it is sent out. Did you full length size the brass before you loaded it?
