Please excuse my ignorance on this and educate me... There are frequent references to Lipsey related Rugers on this forum. What is the significance, if any, of a Lipsey Ruger? Thank you.

It's a little surprising to me how controversial this subject appears to be. A $10 cost for a letter with no down side against the several hundred dollar value already invested?

At a cost of $10 per letter, it is well worth having, even if your Ruger is not collectible, rare or even slightly unusual.

How about asking Ruger directly?

As you mentioned, and as this model is described in RENE, the warning roll mark is on the bottom of the barrel. Close inspection shows no sign of refinishing after it left the factory. Would a Ruger factory letter describe the finish?

Glad there was no serious injury or damage, but I would love to have watched that whole episode!

That is correct...the frame and barrel are matte finish stainless and the cylinder is polished.
