As you mentioned, and as this model is described in RENE, the warning roll mark is on the bottom of the barrel. Close inspection shows no sign of refinishing after it left the factory. Would a Ruger factory letter describe the finish?

The photo below shows a standard 10/22 carbine with wood stock adjacent to another apparent 10/22 stock. Although the second (empty) stock has similar overall dimensions, the opening to mount the action is approximately 1/2 inch longer. Could this second stock be for a 10/22 Magnum?
