Check your barrel/cylinder gap. I had one .30 carbine Ruger that had a .010" gap and it would spit to the side hard enough to blow a zippered pistol pouch clear off the shooting bench! Ruger fixed it free, but it was an old model and they converted it. They sent the old parts back, though...

If you think a progressive press might be somewhere down the road, you might want to get the measure you would use with the press. I haven't tried it, but I think my Dillon measure will fit in a single-stage press. You would need a cartridge-specific drop tube to actuate the measure. I dunno...
