    Ruger Old Army

I took my Ruger Old Army to the range and swapped out the black powder cylinder for a Taylor’s Cartridge Conversion Cylinder in .45 Colt (lead bullet/aprox 900 fps). What a fun gun to shoot! I was only planning on shooting a few rounds just to see how the cylinder conversion worked. Instead I...

Ruger Old Army .45 Colt loads

I finally settled on two loads a 250 grain conical lead bullet (.453) over 6 grains of 700X and a 200 grain conical lead bullet (.452) over 5 grains of 700X. Both loads should keep me in the 800 fps range. Now if the weather ever breaks here we will see what they do. jrf

Ruger Old Army .45 Colt loads

Just purchased .45 Colt cylinder for my ROA. I know that I have to use lead only bullets at around 800-900 feet per second. Any suggestions for reloading? jrf

    Remington 1100 Butt Stock Woodworking

I inherited a 1100 that was in terrible condition (rusted barrel and action, wood butt stock that had 3 small ridges extending from the butt plate that were about 1 to 2 inches long). LGS owner said that the cause of the damage was due to extended improper storage. Well I replaced the barrel...

    .38 Special case split

Paul B. You might be on the right path. The brass is the silver kind and the cut is jagged running down the side of the case .223 from the end of the split to the base of the case. I'll have to check and see if I have any more of the Western brass. I checked the used brass and there are...

    .38 Special case split

Thanks for the reply. It was not a squib load, all shots felt the same. The inability to eject the cases was the first clue of a problem.

    .38 Special case split

Yesterday I was firing my Kimber K6s 4 inch revolver when I couldn’t eject bullets from the cylinder. When I finally got the cylinder open I noticed one of the .38 Special cases had split .101 inch from the case mouth down the side of the case for .795 inches. I had fired 30 rounds of .38 and...

    Waffen Frankonia Wuerzburg

While stationed in Wertheim Germany I ordered a JP Sauer .308 Stuzen rifle with a 2 1/2 x 10 Zeiss scope with swing mounts from them. This was back in 1983 and the total package cost me $800.00. Their store in Wuerzburg Germany is one of the most high end sporting goods store I have ever been...

    Finally got a Mini30.

I also just purchased a mini 30. Took it to the range and it would fire occasionally with many misfires. Took it to the gunsmith found a sliver of metal where the barrel screws into the receiver which would prevent the bolt from fully locking up which caused the misfires. Rifle fixed, took it...
