Before I chop it down, is it remotely collectible?

Yeah, cut that thing to whatever barrel length you want. The PJ from RDW is a nice gripframe and even nicer when you get a set of grips from him. 4 of his gripframes/grips have made there way here somehow. There's something to having your revolvers made just the way you want them. Of course a...

Blackhawk (Super Blackhawk) Brushed Stainless Finish Options

Having done a lot of Cerakote, I'm a big fan. However, I only considered doing a revolver for as long as the thought entered my head and then exited (approximately 2.15 seconds). Cerakote even at it's best will still scratch and scuff. Correcting those scratches is very simple, you Cerakote it...

    Do I Have A Problem?

I will have to use "artifact marks" from now on to describe either factory or self installed blemishes. I can also look in the mirror and notice a few.

Old Model .45 ACP cylinder in large frame Vaquero

Sorry for the continued hijack OP. I tried Hondo's suggestion of a tiny spot of superglue on the ratchet in 3 places and made sure a .002" shim was flat. No more bad language was heard while putting the cylinder back in and trying to slide a shim in. TriggerShims sells a large and a small size...

Old Model .45 ACP cylinder in large frame Vaquero

I have a 4 5/8" SS Super with this issue. FWIW, I have used a TriggerShims shim at the rear and it works fine for one shooting/cleaning session. They tend to take on the ratchet shape and don't like to be reused.... I plan to steal Hondo's idea of a drop of super glue to hold one on during...

    loading gate question

The loading gate spring isn't holding the gate to the rear. Looking at both pics, you can tell the spring is in the same place regardless of where the loading gate is (correctly to the rear, or forward). Whether you send it to Ruger or do it yourself, the spring needs to be replaced or the...

Made a couple more birdshead grips

I've stated before how I appreciate the talent of grip making as I do not have it. I do have the often seen ability to screw up someone else's hard work though.

Tracking down a revolver I sold long ago

I've heard of it. I think it has something to do with Bigfoot and ex wives you wished you hadn't divorced. I found the easiest way to get Bowen rear sights is to order an extra and forget you ordered it. I've got a Flattop version ordered whenever I ordered it. It will get here and I'll be...

    Ruger's Best Revolver

I didn't know that Ruger made double actions so this is an educational thread..... BLACKHAWK! Just kidding about the DA's (I knew they made a few Redhawk's at one time). SINGLE SIX!

    FA in 357...97 vs 83

No difference in dimensions as it's a 357 Magnum. However it can be loaded to a ridiculous level. I don't load it to a Taffin level (I'm referring to his article from years back) but I do go above what I would feed my Blackhawk at times. Not necessary as anything I shoot out of it is accurate...

    Grip Patterns and Templates

Very nice MKII grips became fantastic grips with your checkering SGW's!

    CLP

Jim, I've been using Eezox for 15 years or so. Been through many large spray cans for maintenance of stuff that stays outside. I'm not sure there is a better product for rust prevention. I don't consider it a lubricant really as I prefer a heavier oil or light grease for that purpose...

    A primer question.

As they have been squished into a primer pocket already and typically don't go back to original size, I always re-expand them. I'll place each one on my anvil and tap them with my mini sledge. As I'm careful and quite experienced in this, I usually only have to tap them once. Sometimes I can't...

    Blackhawk front sight question.

The 45 Colt front sight blade is the tallest. I'm assuming you have the stainless RBH?

    New model Flattop Blackhhawk Convertible

You're not wrong that the fullsize BH is a whopper in 357 (the 32's must be tanks). However, there's some comfort in knowing you aren't going to blow one up. Mine is a 4 5/8" SS model and it has never disappointed. The Flattop is still a strong thing as I'm sure you know. I bet you'll enjoy it.
