    Ruger Pistols

The first hand gun I bought, was a standard model Ruger with a 6" barrel, I had some extra change in my pockets after a "missile boat" patrol in the north Atlantic, the year was 1964.

    The end is in sight....

Heliman We are on a highway, it goes one way, we need to enjoy every moment we have. I am at the 8th decade, and hunting is not as important as it once was. The older we get the more we believe that all life is precious. I live in the forest and spend part of everyday out on the trail. I have...

    Ruger Redhawk, 7 1/2" 44 Magnum

My first Redhawk was the 7.5" .44 magnum. Back then (80s), an option was the "express" sights, a brass bead front and "V" notch rear. One of my favorite loads was a 240 gr. SWC hollow point over 9 gr. of Unique. A pretty mild .44 mag. load. A past time of mine in the summer in Alaska was...

    SR9c

I have a Ruger 9E, the economy SR 9 in essence. Those guns are well designed, better than the Glock, I have seen videos of the compact gun shooting groups of 1.5" at 25 yards. The SR9 compares in size with the Glock 19, but with better capacity. My 9E is a real shooter, I shoot almost...

    Ruger American Competition Range Report

I had an American in .45ACP. It was a very accurate, and the engineering is quite remarkable, probably the best of the chassis guns. However in this day and age 10 rounds of .45ACP it falls a bit short, and it was quite sensitive to bullet shape. My favorite .45ACP bullet is the H&G 68, a...

Help trying too remove a rear sight

The P series guns have a set screw, the best way to adjust or remove the sights on these guns is a sight pusher tool.

    45 Colt Blackhawk,

The .45 AR in a good heavy frame gun is the "Undiscovered Country", it is more efficient with smokeless powder than the .45 Colt. The caveat here is that the .45 Colt in the heavy frame guns with the newer slow burning powders and bullets beyond 255 grains, will meet the requirements of the...

    P95 questions

The P series guns are very durable, with reasonable care they will last for generations.

    45 colt redhawk

I think that the 5.5" was fairly hard to find in .45Colt.

    45 Colt Blackhawk,

I bought a Blackhawk .45 convertible in 1975, it had the 7.5 in barrel, I sent it back to Ruger and had them install the 4 5/8" barrel. When it came back it had the barrel with the "Made in the 200th year of American Liberty" stamp on top of the barrel. A year later I put a super Blackhawk grip...

This moose stuff is gettin old...

I lived in Alaska for 23 years, only had one unpleasant encounter with a moose. A young bull had taken up residence in a cleared off area by a small utility building along the Glenn Hwy. just above Chickaloon, that belonged to one of the telephone companies. It had rained and there was a hard...

    New P95 soon

I found a P89 DC a bit rough on the outside, but in good condition mechanically, a careful inspection of the parts indicated it had been fired very little. I re load and use almost exclusively cast bullets. In trying different loads I found that by seating a 160 gr. cast SWC at 1.136" they...

    First Year Super Blackhawk Questions...

My first Super a "3" screw, back in the late 60's came in a cardboard box.

Question about NM Blackhawk .45 Colt

The best bet is to call Ruger customer service, fitting a .45ACP cylinder to a .45Colt should not be a problem.

    Discontinued SR series.

I just checked the Ruger web page and the SR guns are back, a good idea in my opinion. The Glock 19X and the Model 45, are "pale" examples of the Ruger SR series.
