178 Hornady Eld-x is great for this type of gun and it should be plenty for deer out to 600 yards. I just looked up VLD, it seems to be a top pick, but I think the Eld-x is the best of the 4 most common from reviews

At this point I have purchased a Springfield Armory XDM Elite 10mm 4.5" with a Holosun 507k X2 Asics with Vulcan Reticle in green. I took off the mag well and with a somewhat loser shirt and an undershirt it conceals quite well with a magazine on my opposite side.
