SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

I totally agree with you, however I don't believe the brake I added was any heavier than the one I replaced it with. The fore grip is pretty minimal weight, but I will agree on the bipod. It adds a lot of weight, and does it way out in front. Believe it or not, it is slightly less weight than...

    SFAR help needed

FYI: I have the 6.5 Creedmoor version. I replaced the charging handle with a Radian Raptor and my bolt release is very stiff as well (as it was with the Ruger handle). I’ve put 76 rounds through mine. I can tell you that it loosens up a great deal when there is ammo in the mag. After the 76...

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

I decided to roll the dice and bought a 20” SFAR in 6.5 Creedmoor. I’m relieved to report that it is excellent so far. Here is what I have done to date: Upon purchase, I put 3 rounds through it on gas setting 3, and then three more on setting 2. All 6 rounds did fine. Then, I took it home...

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

I really do appreciate the input. Kind of getting the feeling about two things. Number one, peoples perception, changes overtime and that perception changes the market as companies will release not necessarily what they believe is the best, but rather what the customers want. You mentioned...

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

So please forgive my ignorance, but comparing a bolt gun and a semi auto is a bad idea? At least when dealing with velocity?

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

yes, but I would say a half a pound is significant. Especially on a rifle that is supposed to be all about weight savings. I’m getting the feeling though that a 16 inch won’t be offered. I also agree that cutting the barrel down is very risky as it’s probably not gonna work at all. I suppose I...

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

I agree, and I was quite surprised when I saw two videos on YouTube that tested this very same thing. They were bolt guns in 6.5 CM, but the barrel lengths were 20 inches and 16 inches. In both videos, the 16 even shot fairly well out to 1200 yards. Yes, the velocity was less but I can deal...

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

I want the 16 inch because it’s a lighter. Lighter and smaller. I basically want an AR-10 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor but having it light is key. It will not be used for hunting. It will just be used for a range toy and hopefully never defense.

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

Mobuck, Thanks for the information. It won't be used for hunting and ear pro full time isn't a problem, but your velocity report conflicts (or is just a difference in opinion) with two YouTube videos I have seen (yeah, I know….). Either way though, it is pretty clear that you doubt Ruger will...

SFAR 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel Length Question. 16"? Opinions?

Hi Everyone, So I've waited a year for a 6.5 Creedmoor version of the SFAR, but I want it in 16" or I'd settle for 18", but as most of you know it is only available in 20". Yes, I'm aware I'll lose some performance, and that you will tell me to just get the .308, but I'll take the ballistic...
