If you compare the 2 guns after fully pulling back the slide, you will see the hammer on the Gen 1 is in the 1/2 cock position. On the gen 2, the hammer is fully cocked and all the way to the rear.
I believe there is an extra notch on the seer of the 2. If the gun is dropped and the hammer...
The LCP trigger is heavier than the LCP II because when the slide is racked the hammer remains at a 1/2 cock position. On the II, the hammer is fully cocked. Some say that the LCP is actually a double action. This accounts for the heavier trigger. Some feel that the II is not as safe to carry...
Have you tried applying stair tread or skate bard tape or some other grip tape to the slide to allow better grip? It works for me. There are several YouTube videos on this if you are not familiar with this.
I agree. One for carry and one to shoot and maintain proficiency. The small size of the gun requires more range time to remain proficient at point and shoot as might be required in a SD situation. IMHO
After my earlier experiences with the LCP having cracked metal frame inserts at about 1000 rnds, with 3 different guns, I now have an LCP II. So far I have about 1600 rnds thru and not signs of ware on the metal frame insert and no other issues.
I agree. If you are not comfortable taking things apart, try flushing out the firing pin channel with Gun Scrubber of similar product. These products leave no oily residue to collect dirt.
Definitely hammer. If you look at the rear of the slide , you well see the partially enclosed hammer. If the hammer is cocked you will see the end of the firing pin.
Have you tried any Sig? P938 is easy to handle for someone with smaller hands. So is the new release P365. The 365 has a 10 rnd mag. Both are good shooters and very accurate. May be a little more than you want to spend, but worth a look and maybe rent and test.
