    Beast blade auto knives

For a birthday present my daughter and son in law gave me a beast blade automatic knife, which are made here in Colorado. It has a damascus steel blade that is very hard. I ground it on my Work sharp grinder and it wasn't removing much steel but finally put a fair edge on it, but being OCD I...

    Here's a Question

I like BHN 12 bullets and believe the harder ones are too hard. I always thought they cast commercial bullets harder to keep them from suffering deformation during shipping. I had to replace a shipment of bullets that were lost in transit and hurriedly ordered swaged bullets by mistake. They...

    S&W 60 ignition issues

Not a Smith, but I installed lighter hammer spring in a M66 Taurus to lighten the action up and it misfires during DA shooting. That's okay as I always shoot single action anyway.

    .45 Colt and W296/H110 Max

I was loading 23.5 grains H110 in my 45LC Vaquero under a 335 grain gas check cast bullet without issue. I realize this isn't a Hornady XTP but it does show that the Rugers are capable of heavier charges.

School me on the Birdshead Vaquero

I am of the opinion that shooters with smaller hands get along with the birdhead grip. My hands are large enough that even the plow handle grips feel a little small and the birdshead is just terrible to me. I have an ugly Hogue monogrip on my 41mag blackhawk that feels just right to me, and...

    Two part question

I use what RClark mentioned. A little copper Chore Boy works like magic, and yes, I tried the Lewis lead removal but it didn't work as easily as the copper and also a lot more expensive.

    6.5 Carcano

WLRP are designated magnum and standard, so if you have Win large rifle primers they are good to go.

    GP100 at the Range

I have found that guns like what they like. I have found also that an accurate load is better than one that is a lot faster, well unless the target requires being hit with more energy. My only 357Mag revolver is a Taurus M66 4", and though it will shoot 357s fairly well, it will shoot nickels...

Is it possible to shoot out a Single Six 22 Magnum barrel?

That just looks like a crappy rough bore to me. I will say I am no expert, but I've seen rifle bores that looked like that and they wouldn't shoot either and were no where near being shot out. I think Ruger just didn't want to own their own shoddy workmanship. Just my .02cents worth

My new-to-me Blackhawk has a steel ERH...

If I remember correctly, I believe I read one time more than a few years ago that Ruger was changing to a steel ERH on their NM Blackhawks. My 41 mag NM Blackhawk that is about 20 Y.O. has the aluminum type. If it was the same barrel length I would trade ERHs. LOL

GUNSMITHING ADJUSTABLE SIGHTS ONTO A VAQUERO

I don't know how to post pics, but my stainless Vaquero 4 5/8" has post war S&W J frame adjustable rear sight, but I bought it already converted. It looks nice and I don't think you will be disappointed if the smith does good work.

    IWB holsters while driving

I use an Alien Gear IWB holster for my Sig 238 about 5:00 and hardly notice it, even when driving and riding for 9 hours. The only thing I don't like about IWB rigs is when I wear my shirt tucked I am probably too slow if I ever have to draw from it. So far it has been there to make me feel...

    Cast Performance Heat Treated Solids

I loaded 23.5 grains of H110 behind 335 grain GC cast bullets for my Vaquero but had to cut down 454C brass because the bullets jumped crimp in LC brass and locked the cyl. When I made this load there wasn't any data that I could find and just flew by the "seat of my pants".

    .30 Carbine question.

Well, I thought it was Taffin's article I read some years ago but I can't seem to find it now. What the author said was that he used a dowel rod with a slit sawn into one end and a piece of emery cloth strap wrapped through the slot and around the rod which he then inserted into the chamber...

    .30 Carbine question.

My late father-in-laws NM Blackhawk ended up with my son. Elmer (FIL) didn't shoot it hardly at all, and when Jake (son) shot it the brass wouldn't eject. He left it with me to sort out and I found the throats were horribly undersized, so I used John Taffins technique to expand them and after...
