What's your preferred trigger pull on a Blackhawk?

Prefer 1-2 lbs. Once had a SBH at 8 oz, but would only fire about 50% of the time as the transfer bar wouldn't come up far enough. Had to raise it to about 1 lb. Had to replace the hammer at about 15K rounds.

Any plans on a gun purchase in January 2024

A Ruger RPR is about it, unless I come across a #1 in a flavoring that interests me.

    30 carbine BH worth?

We will see how long it sits there before I might make an offer

I went to the bank yesterday

I think now that if you get over $1700 or so, in cash, the bank reports it to the feds

    30 carbine BH worth?

LGS has a 30 carbine blackhawk (early 80's) that looks like maybe one cylinder shot thru it. Has yellow box and cardboard shipper also. What is this thing worth? Thanks

    Radial engines

The radials are dry sumps. As you said, scavenging pumps put the oil back in to holding tanks. I would imagine some of the 4 row engines, such as on the B-36 (Father flew them for awhile) had tanks holding 50 gallons or more of oil.

    Cougar Encounters

Only saw one when it ran in front of my truck, one night. This was about 30 years ago. about two weeks later, same thing happened to the wife, in about the same area. Last year, Neighbor about 3/4 mile away posted a few pics of one loitering around the entrance to his driveway. Big sucker.

did ruger ever make anything for the military?

Thought I read long ago(decades) that there were suppressed 10-22's used in Vietnam. Whether they were built by Ruger or the units armorers, couldn't say.

    #1b in 243

Just picked one up. Low 4 digit s/n with a set of scope rings split vertically. Any particulars about this I should know? Didn't the early guns have Douglas barrels? Thanks

    Ruger #1B 220 swift

LGS has one. Red pad. 22 rounds down the tube as told by the owner of the shop (his gun). Are these rare? Wondering what it is worth. Looks brand new, which it almost is.

What do you think about your state - bad and good?

Colorado or maybe should call it Califorado as that is what it is now. Run by the liberal centers of Denver and Boulder, with a few other smaller towns thrown in. Property tax assessments went up by 45% here while some front range cities went up by 60% or more. Was a pretty good state up...

Interesting Article on Ruger's Transition of the Marlin Brand & Production

I have one of the last Remlin 357's. Fit and finish are pretty good and the gun will just about eat anything I try to feed it. Gotta jiggle the lever a bit sometimes, with full wadcutters though, but it will still feed them.
