    Open Carry

When I was a detective with a state agency, we had a rule that our guns could not be in plain view (ie., open carry). I have been retired 35 years and still comply with those guideline's when armed. I respect the non-gun citizens feelings about being nervous when they see open carry. I...

    Rossi Lever Actions

The wood on the Winchester/Miroku is very proud. Sent it toWinchester repair and they said it was normal. The Winchester/Miroku rebound hammer is not near as nice as the Rossi hammer/trigger system. And finally there is that tang mounted safety on the Miroku. The Rossi also has that top...

    Rossi Lever Actions

My last three 92 Rossi 92s were that smooth. All were made in the last several years. My dealer ordered in my last Rossi .357 SS, Trapper for me. I had just purchased a Henry Brass .357 (no side gate). I traded him even up (after paying $1,100 for the Henry). The Henry was so heavy it was a...

    30 years of married life

Got married in 1963 when I was an E-3 Seaman aboard the USS Guardian AGR1. After that, 25 years as a State Trooper and then later a Michigan Naval group for old sailers. We made it through all that and looking forward to 61 years next month.

    Charter Arms 44

The Son of Sam stigma doesn’t bother me at all. A lot of Detroit PD officers were carrying these off duty years ago. Also, a 1903 Colt .32acp was carried by a lot of bad guys. I really like the one I have. And don’t forget the .32cal Walther PPK. Allegedly Hitler did himself in with one...

    Charter Arms 44

I posted this on another forum several years ago. My new Charter Arms Classic, .44 Special. First time at the range. Shot this group at 15 yards with PMC 180 grn, JHP (it will be my ammo of choice.) Interesting enough, I first shot some 240 grn, lead FN, Magtech cowboy action ammo. It...

    New Full-Size Lightweight SR1911

After buying 3 guns in the last several years from PSA, I had trouble with the 4th gun purchase. It was an RIA 1911 that had a serious idiot scratch on the frame and slide. This was allegedly a new in the box-firearm that had obviously been mishandled by someone. PSA advised that I had to send...

    My “new” 3 screw Blackhawk

I had an unfired 3 screw .357 4 5/8” Blackhawk that I foolishly sold earlier this year. The other day, I came across this nice gently used 1968 era sample on Turnbull’s web site for a really great price. I pick up the gun tomorrow from my dealer so I borrowed these photo’s from Turnbull’s ad...

Marlin (Remlin made in 2019) 1894 CS, .357/38 lever gun

If I change the sights I will probably use the "XO" sights like on my other Marlin 1894 "JM" .357/.38.

Marlin (Remlin made in 2019) 1894 CS, .357/38 lever gun

Just came back from the range. This one is a keeper (I can now boast 5 .357/.38 lever guns). One ragged hole with .357 or .38 at 30 feet. The trigger really is smoothing out (especially after about 100 dry fires this morning). Showed this to my local dealer today. He says these are about a...

Marlin (Remlin made in 2019) 1894 CS, .357/38 lever gun

Just picked up this Marlin 1894 CS, .357/.38 yesterday. This carbine was made in March of 2019 and was one of the last of the Remington Marlins. It only had about 10 rounds through it according to the dealer. I just bought one of the new Ruger/Marlin 1894 .44Mag carbines and when I first...

My new Marlin/Ruger Classic .44 Mag

Just got back from my first trip to the range. Shot .44 Special and 44 Mag at 45 feet. Was shooting a little low but the sights were easy to adjust. Action is pretty stiff but it will loosen up. All in all, it is a keeper.

My new Marlin/Ruger Classic .44 Mag

As far as I know, the ones I am using were made by a retired machinist in Wisconsin. They were blued and came with an Allen wrench to fir a screw in the Marlin cross bolt safety system. He only charged $10 and when he went out of business, I bought all he had at that the time (about 10). I...

My new Marlin/Ruger Classic .44 Mag

I usually remove the cross bolt safety on my Marlins and install the plug that looks like a screw on the right side. However, this time I am trying the rubber "O" ring trick which really does't look too bad. I found that a #36 "O" ring seems to be just right. In the future I may still...
