Maybe the wheel gun is utterly reliable. I have a 3" DA 38 revolver that fires everything from shot to +P. Put that in a thumb break leather holster and it's basically a multitool that goes bang. I choose the revolver for personal preference and intended use. A semi- can act up when I least want it.
Using 36gr CPHP Mini-Mags. A red dot (1.71" above the barrel centerline) zeroed at 50yds gives me 8-70yds MPBR or when I feel like it a spare cheap CenterPoint 4-9x32 scope (2.6" above the barrel centerline) with red/green illuminated reticle zeroed at 50yds for 17-72yd MPBR; 100yds is no...
It's pretty a pretty tough act to beat when you have a 10/22 on a sling. Red Dot on top of a Ruger rail is even better. It effectively replaced my Rem 5xx.
"Both fireams and any loads you shoot will start showing you they work or not as near as 10yds."
I've actually seen funny things start happening at 10yds. Either with me or the firearm or the load. That's why I do the first tests at that distance and get a zero. If things look good, then I move...
True. A multi-mag S2K and a complementary pistol can make a nice happy meal. Mine is/was the M&P S2K with a M&P 2.0 5". Then the fun really got started trying to locate what load works in *both*. It seems for me at least, they both like 124gr loads. I'd suggest some of the ammo your friends at...
And if you still think the Max POI is low, then you'd be correct (up to a point) because the Gun Data org people helped me out with the ballistics estimation. Here we go.
Monarch 94gr FMJ does ~825fps from my Max. It has ~0.10 BC. The Max sight height is .57". Zero range is 10yds for this...
I got the S2K and a M&P 2.0 for all of the above stated reasons. Same mags and same ammo sounded like a good way to go. It ultimately didn't work out for me. The S2K doesn't stand up to rapid fire (feed ramp), and it's a you-know-what to takedown and clean up. Lost spring and clips are SOP...
I started with the S2K, figured out what I want, and built an AR-9. I watched an S2K operated in a multi-gun competition and it was just awful.
Here's the multiple choice problem for AR-9 pattern builds
Plan A. Glock anything
- Glock compatible lower or an AR-pattern lower with a Glock...
Picked up the Max and a 10 round mag after ignoring it for several months. Warmed up with a few dry fire reps to recall the fundamentals, and then I got to work.
3 yds 5 shots of 100gr FMJ using a Dead on Hold. The Max will do its part when you do your part.
Spend the $ on a good 5.56 barrel, BCG, and FCG. Everything else is negotiable. My AR pattern builds use BA barrels, a quality MPI inspected BCG, and RA LE-145 FCG's. Keep the BCG wet and you're good to go. Each one I build has to survive a several hundred round any-ammo-goes burn down *and*...
Gonna hafta change my solution looking for a problem metaphor to "it's like a holster looking for a gun". With that being said, I have lots of empty holsters..........
