    "Convertibles were not produced until 1961." Chet, then why do you state in the RENE Extra 22LR cyl started in 1960 with S/N 308310 Probably just over 5000 made ????

    Well here we go again. There are Single -Six Magnums and then there are Single-Six Magnums. Looking on the left side of the frame will tell the story. The Mag marked Single -Sixs have several variations and some are quite rare which may be important if you are a collector. I have a 1 of 700...

    Hondo, Your post #10 is outstanding and yes it should be a sticky. In the 20+ years I have been here this is the best info I have read. This subject keeps coming up time and time again.

    Here are a couple done by Alan Harton in Houston. He also did 15-20 for Joe Bowman. They were very popular with the quick draw guys at one time. The one you have looks very good some not so much.

    Pick this unconverted blackhawk today

    6 1/2" barrel BKH-36 started with a serial number of 22572 in 1959 Per the Red Eagle,, Type 2 Transition BKH-34 (A sub-variety since it has the narrow land cylinder base pin. Known examples 6313-11588.

    I don't think so, to early for a 61/2" per the S/N I think this is a type 2A BKH-34 Anyway a nice old shooter
