yessir Wayne did love them,, I too sold him one many years ago, I never cared for the Micro sights on a revolver as the front sight was the issue,,,way too tall on an auto and the front one on the Single Six was just attached to the blade and the blades were just a 'press fit' into the barrel, did come off, fall off , knocked off with use, back in the old days when we first had our shop........besides never had any holster that fit them properly back then,,,that tall front sight especially on the autos was like a can opener, alas, sad and sorry Americal is no longer with us,,,another to the big Ruger show in the sky,,he's with some GOOD ones,,,may they all rest in Peace.....;):(
...word of caution on any of them old model Rugers that just may have been "color case hardened" as the receiver casting is a 4140 chrome-moly mix and as such is a "complex metal" and "hardening" causes them to become brittle, they have come apart ,crumbled, saw two of them over the years and become un-usable,,,,main reason that Turnbull and others do NOT color case harden Rugers, yes they can "case color" use a proprietary method on them, Bobby Tyler also does ...I knew the folks at Springfield ,OHio Case coloring many years ago, and they learned the hard way, then refused to do ANY Rugers after that....:cool::rolleyes:
