I have never counted how many knives I own, gotta do that. Anyway, I'm gonna guess somewhere around 40 give or take. Anyway, I only carry two daily, a Swiss Army Cadet and a small Swiss Army with nail file, toothpick, tweezers etc.

I really like the last two knives I got from case the black micarta one is awesome. I think I will buy only case knives from now on the fact they are made in the good old USA is definitely a plus. Case makes quality knives

For fishing use a Bubba Blade and keep that Benchmade or Emerson for real collecting!

As mentioned, some are made very well, and some are junk.

I know that Paul Chen and Hanwei blades are decent, and they are affordable. There are junk pocket knives from China that I would never buy.

This Buck pattern (what I consider the original stuff), these are still good great knives. But you don't see them cheap much any more. Folks selling at gun shows around here think any Buck knife is an automatic antique, worth twice what you can give at any outdoor store. I had acquired most of these through time and hunting yard sales or flea market/gun show type things, but a local (back in Virginia) shop was going out of business, and I bought this old Buck counter top display. I had to buy one or two other Bucks to figure I had it full enough, but I think it looks about right. The place was also a deli & grill, so the Buck display had about an 1/8" of cheesesteak and burger grease on it.
Before I left for the Navy, we lived in Sevierville, TN which many know is home to Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Plus with several other prominent knife stores in the area, the Acorn in Gatlinburg (gone for many years now.), I was in a "knife collecting" rich environment...

I think I own 3 knives made in China, and they are surprisingly nice for the money. However, I don't plan on buying any more. I'm old enough that I don't "need" more knives, and if I feel I must they will be made in the USA.
I've got 2 Almar folders that are Chinese as well as a Seki, Japan made version of the Hawk. Honestly can't see much difference. The Chinese goes out every day as I would not feel bad about a $35 pocket knife getting lost or hurt.

The knife maybe advertised as 7Cr, but the odds of it being anything near that are slim to none. Worse if it came from a factory that "claims" to have an ISO certification. They just make up the certification as they go along. And the ISO doesn't even try to enforce it. I've got the acid burns to prove it.
I've thought that ISO should have been renamed Eye wash. That's all it was to me.
