I encountered some of the Saddam horde while in the sandbox (not me in the pic). They were actually gold anodized, or something, rather than gold plated. They're now in some USAF museum somewhere.
Can you get anymore ridiculous than this: Palmetto State Armory.

based on what I have seen of old guns that were gold plated I would pass, maybe the process is better these days, but I just don't think gold plating is a good finish for a firearm, even one that isn't going to be fired.

Have any of you noticed the number of handguns that now come in boutique colors? Appealing to the female market? Seems like almost every maker is in on it these days.

I can see that as the hero gun in some movies or tv epidodes, if they can find an actor with ego, panash, and moves to back it up.
