Well caliber aside I'm pretty sure it was the "management" & NOT the workers when it comes to the last two wars, that my 2 cents & when it comes to caliber & weight I always thought more was better. My Son-In-Law was deployed twice and he never complained about having to much ammo,LOL!Kudos to you on your WW II rifles! I am a VERY big WW II buff, and on my website I have listed over 20 WW II books, and another 20 or so WW II video documentaries to watch. I am so upset with the US military to move off of the 30-06 round, and the .45 ACP pistol. The move to the M16 and 9mm pistol is a very poor one, since they both shoot pea shooter ammo! We have lost both wars (those that are mainly land based with troops) ever since they went to the M16.
I do agree that the 06 is a bad-ass round and is very good at what it does. When it comes to WWII rifles I lucked out but wish I knew now what I should of known 40yuears ago when M1s,1903s,1903A3s & 04s were dirt cheap and plentiful,I don't know how many more I would of had but I know the choices were much better back then,LOL!
I did crono one of my M1s last week but have not checked out my 1903A3/4s yet,my loads are accurate but far from hot in these old girls but still produce some good groups and velocities. Its lookin great weather the next week or so & I plan on multiple range trips and will report back on what I find out with the Garmin!
