Hello I traded for this tang safety ruger m77. Laminate. 270 win. I wasnt sure it was factory but some research led me to believe it is. Super clean, nice leupold vx1 4-12x40. Cool sling. Couldnt leave it behind. Ruger site says it was 1987 model 07708 I dont think these are collector guns but...

    Lipsey Ruger Significance?

Lipseys is keeping several Ruger guns alive. The 77, 77/22, mid frame flattop blackhawks. If anybody ever persuades them to build no1s again, it will be lipseys. I dont think of them as better or more collectible but they are a force keeping some handbuilt guns coming from Ruger.

Lipseys Ruger 77 african 35 Whelen

My favorite local shop got it in today and called to let me know. I ran over, looked, and couldnt leave it behind. We installed the Leupold 1.5-5x20. I love those scopes. My 450/400 NE Ruger no1 wears one well also. Looking forward to the 35 Whelen.

Pics added. Is this a factory old Vaquero?

Might have gone back to Ruger and rebarreled refinished etc. I would not refer to it as custom.

    Skeeter's Birthday.

Good news is my Jack Huntington build is coming along. Al Siegrist rebored the Colt Anaconda barrel to 45 dimensions. New model flattop frame. Jack says this is the first 6" one he has done. I wonder what Skeeter would have thought. I wonder what the Duke would think.

    Skeeter's Birthday.

The Duke says 45 Colt is overrated. Maybe it is, but doesnt seem like statements like that help anybody. But I wish him well and a Happy Birthday! I followed his advice for my black powder shooting and was successful.

    Skeeter's Birthday.

I saw that May 1 is Skeeter Skelton's birthday. I had Alan Harton work this blackhawk over with the "Skeeter Gun" look. 4 5/8 barrel, front sight, base pin. I like my guns in 45 Colt though. Zane Thompson made the walrus ivory grips. One of my favorites.
