Yup many times.

Wish I could blame it on being hammered, but that was only the case a few of the times.

Still alive

I'll eat almost anything, but I ALWAYS know what it is before I decide to warm it up. I was a single man (cave-type?) for twenty some years. If I cooked it, I ate it. Usually right from the pan. No leftovers to save, no dishes to wash. Wifey and 10 year old son do not follow those guidelines. She cooks for an army and he puts his whole plate into the refrigerator because he doesn't like it. (My tummy hurts, I'm full, I ate too much bread, I don't eat shrimp...)
So. I never look in the refrigerator that is in the kitchen. I have the one that was the beer fridge 10 years ago. It is near the grill. If there is extra steak, burgers or ribs, they are not "leftovers". They are snacks. Snacks can go in my fridge, but they never stay overnight.

I don't think I've done exactly that. This thread made me think of a conversation I had with my sister once. My wife gave us leftovers to eat. She said, "It should still be good." I told my sister to microwave it to warm it up as a microwave will kill anything harmful. My sister laughed & told me they had a meal at work. Some people microwaved their food before eating it, some didn't. All the people that didn't microwave their food got sick. None of the ones that warmed their food up in the microwave did.

Mom thought me crazy, but i hafta nuke my ham before i can eat it. this isnt necessary with beef, bird, or fish. Those get warmed up if i feel like it, but ham hasta get good and cooked, even off a roast i cooked and 'fridge'd.

Take a covered dish out of the fridge, glance inside, and warm it up only to discover after it's warm and you've shoved a forkful into your mouth--THAT YOU'RE NOT SURE WHAT IT IS?
Not only that but you also can't remember seeing it on the table before it became 'leftovers'?
Just happened to me--been nice knowing you folks.

Do you have a dog? Maybe your eating your dog's next meal.

One time my parents were at our house and my dad threw out my wife's sourdough starter. She still hasn't forgotten that.

But I've had food poisoning too many times. I don't eat any cooked food after day two and watch expiration dates very carefully.

My one weakness is gas station hotdogs. Man those are the best.
Kevin, if you cook food a second time, it will be sterile. Of course the taste may be affected. I have thrown out food that didn't taste good!!! Lol

Like Bob Wright, I live alone, and I have now for 14 years. I know what is in my fridge. If it grows hair, tastes bad after nuking, I carry it to the bathroom and flush it!!! Otherwise, I eat lots of left overs. I made an overall score of 95% in Microbiology class, plus some training at CDC to be an infection control nurse epidemiologist. My sister in laws were aghast at the left overs I would eat. Lol

One morning, I was in the chow line at my company at Ft. Ord (we had our own mess hall). Scooped up what I thought was oatmeal, put milk and sugar on it and sat down only to discover it was "scrambled" eggs (VERY undercooked!)
I was at Fort Ord 69 and 70, the pancakes, oat meal and scrambled eggs looked almost identical. The oatmeal may have been a shade lighted, the cakes didn't maintain their individual form once the trainee started dishing. So for the next 4 months, I put maple" syrup on anything that I couldn't positively identify.Still eat syrup on eggs and oatmeal occasionally.

You know it wasn't good when even the cats won't touch it. Sometimes the fridge looks like a penicillin lab with all the dishes growing something a slightly different shade of green/gray.
One time my dad put a piece of Limburger cheese on the floor and the cat tried to bury it. That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen

I don't cook often but when I do I like to make what I call a green chili casserole. I usually make enough for (at least) 6 meals or three nights . One of the things we've noticed is it gets better from one meal (night) to the next. Not sure why but it does. Same with my Chili.
When it has time to sit the flavors mix with everything!
