Bought this some years ago. I looked up the serial number and it says shipped in 1990, but it didn't say anything about being a Bisley. The yellow box says it's a Bisley, but there is no serial number on the box so I don't know if it's original to the gun. S/N is 86-21xxx. Anyway to know if it's an original Bisley versus someone swapping grip frames? Thanks.

The best way to get a correct idea of how the gun shipped is to get a letter from Ruger Records. It'll cost $10. It will give you the exact model info, when it was mfged, when it was shipped, and where it was shipped to.

What model number did Ruger's serial number lookup page say it was?

Model 00831 would have been a 7.5 inch blued 44 Bisley Super Blackhawk.
This started life the same, but now has a 5 1/2 inch barrel.
