Someone put two portraits of king Charles side by side and you can see the silhouette of the devil where the two portraits meet.

I really like it. I'm quite sure Charles knew what he was getting into when he commissioned Yeo, as the king is certainly no stranger to art. And Yeo's style is well established (although this is a leap in comparison to prior work he's done for the family). It certainly needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. I can say that without reservation. Small internet images appear a bit muddy and overworked. Larger images I've seen reveal a rather accomplished hand.

Some would call the butterfly trite, or sappy. I see it as a tender touch. I like it!

So far, I've seen nobody here mention the artist. I imagine the artist was selected because he was famous (rather than talented), and no matter how disappointing his products may be, people will praise them, to show how much they (supposedly) know. Picture "The Emperor's New Clothes", or the establishment media coverage of Joe Biden's policies.
:)

Apparently the artist selected to do the portrait was Jonathon Yeo:

"In 2007, his unauthorised portrait of American President George W. Bush, created from cuttings of pornographic magazines and was shown in London, New York and Los Angeles brought him worldwide notoriety..."

I guess if you choose a guy who got famous by making a portrait out of chopped-up porn photos, you can't complain about the results. Since the artist actually used oil on canvas this time around (rather than shredded nudie pics), one obviously must give him credit for a yeomanlike attempt to produce a respectable portrait - although I wonder if he might be "color blind"...
