I wouldn't be surprised that the old stuff isn't more reliable than recent manufacture... :shock:

I prefer W-296 over 2400 for stout .45 LC loads and achieve 1340 fps with the 250 gr XTP in my 7.5" Blackhawk with it... FWIW

Most .22 WMR rounds that I've chrono'ed out of my H&R derringer barely break 1,000 fps. Just sayin'...

I will ditto Rclark's load of 7.0 grs Green Dot, it has shot well with several 250ish gr lead bullets for me, noteably the 252 Lee cast.

I have pushed the 250 gr XTP to 1340 fps in my 7.5" Blackhawk. Yep, gets your attention alright... But personally, I would use a hardcast 300-340 gr if I was going elk hunting with it... Just me though...

Blue... LBT soft blue to be precise. Nothing finer IMHO. 8) And I rarely clean the barrel, just leave the LBT lube coating in there... :shock:
