New Vaquero .44 Special 4.62 thoughts

Since you say you already own two Montados, New Vaqueros with 3 3/4" barrels and wide checkered hammers in 45 Colt or 357 S&W Magnum. You already know about the basic platform. So no surprises there. The only consideration would be getting a new caliber (44 Spl) if you don't already have...

    GP 100 Question

Of all the GP100s I own, I have only ONE with a 6 inch barrel and its a half lug. As hittman said, half lugs are more desirable to many. I'm one of the many.

Replace grips on Jeff Quinn GP100?

Yes, they can be replaced with the standard factory grips although it might be quit a 'wrestle' to get them off. Besides the grips and wood panels, you will need the grip screw and the small aluminum cylinder 'grip retainer' that fits sideways through the rubber grip and grip frame to the other...

Pics added. Is this a factory old Vaquero?

A picture of the end of the box would be very helpful as well. As long as its the original box to the gun. It would have the model number and matching serial number. I really liked the original Vaquero and don't remember a version like that, but they made a bunch of special ones and its been...

    Ketchup poll

In the days before refrigeration, food was preserved by salting, dehydrating, and pickling with vinegar. Mustard is pickled with vinegar so it could stay outside the fridge. Other pickled vegetables could be too but I think they taste better cold. Ketchup/catsup is a toss up to me. I think it...

    Speed Six stainless in 9mm

A sincere thanks to everyone for all the great info. I forgot to mention that it has a 2.75 inch barrel in addition to being stainless. I wasn't aware of the 4 inch version. The serial, 157- 2958X, places it later in the serial number sequence.

    Speed Six stainless in 9mm

Thanks for the info. A 9mm Speed Six was top of my list of 'wants' and that is why when I found this one in my closet that I was so excited and wanted to share. The full moon and half moon clips were a nice bonus too. I won't be turning this one loose anytime soon. The Security, Service...

    Intereseting transaction with Fidelity

On the other hand, she may have been looking out for you. Sometimes us old folks get scammed out of our money and lose all our retirement funds. An unusual withdrawal from those funds is a sign that something is not Kosher in Denmark. If you had told her that your house needs a new A/C or...

    Speed Six stainless in 9mm

While looking in my closet for a Single Six, I found a stainless Speed Six in 9mm plus a lot of half and full moon clips. I had totally forgotten I owned it! I had stashed it away in a nice Ruger brand gun rug. It looks 'new in box' except I don't have the box or papers. The serial prefix is...

    USMC Marked Security Six??

In 1979 I qualified Expert Pistol with a Security Six at Pensacola Naval Air Station while in AOCS. So the Navy had them. I don't remember any special markings on the revolver at the time. It was way before I became a Ruger gun nut.

What type of cookware do you use?

Go with a mix of SS clad and cast iron. A kitchen needs a 10" iron skillet, a Dutch oven, a brasier (wide, low sided pan with a tight fitting lid) and maybe a griddle, plus a stainless steel clad sauce pan (3 qt) and a similar sized saucier pan (wide mouthed sauce pan) and few smaller sauce...

    Identify these grips?

They are made by Vintage Gun Grips, INC of Casselberry, Florida. (www,vintagegungrips.com). I have a set like yours for NM Blackhawks and Single Six revolvers, and another set for Security Six series. I got mine through Midway and needed to buy the grip screw and escutcheons separately. I...

High Polishing stainless Ruger six series

I've never purposely polished any of my stainless handguns, but the longer I own one the more 'shiny' it seems to get from just regular cleaning and cloth wiping after handling. Other than my Vaqueros and New Vaqueros, I only have a few that came to me with a 'high polish' finish which were two...
