I have wanted a pair of Genuine Ruger Sambar Stag grips for a long time. After such a long search, I have given up. I bought these fake stag grips, mostly to preserve my black rubber/plastic originals.
I found that I actually like shooting with these grips. Franzite stayed in business for one good reason. The darn things actually work really well as a handle to control the aim of my Flatgate. Not only do they cost a meager $30, they actually feel really great, even if they do look like CaCa. I like 'em!

Don't look like CaCa to me, but would be better with Ruger medallions added. I like them .

I have the medallions and a brand new 1/2" Forstner bit. Just waiting for the right day. My friend has a really good drill press, so I will add them. I think that they would dress them up too. There's a dimple on the inside of the grips for a centered pilot hole, and the plastic has enough depth. No reason not to. I certainly wouldn't be fooling anyone, and they would look better.

However, they don't look as bad as these! (it's my gun, so I figured I could say that!) The 2 by 4 grips look bad, but man, they're comfortable all day long, and they really offer a natural point.

My handguns are all down in North Carolina, so I have to have my Brother mail the grips back so that I can install the medallions. The medallions that I purchased are the same as the ones in the new Ruger black checkered grips, so they aren't Vîntage, but they should look just fine.
I have my guns at my Brother's place because I have to go to Korea for six months. I just can't trust my gun safe after a few videos that I've seen. I heard about a guy who was afraid to leave 11 Colts at home, so he was traveling with him in his car. Guess what? Some incredibly lucky car break-in specialist hit the jackpot. I would love to see the creeps reaction when he intended to steal the change in the car and opened a bag full of Colts. He probably has enough drugs to last him for a year!

Yep, not a fan of those grips myself, but sometimes utility gains over beauty, as in ugly plastic rifle stocks over fine walnut.
