These are not common guns. Anybody have experience with one. I have NIB on the way and excited to get it. Ive watched several sell for much higher than this example I won on gunbroker. Planning to put an old Leupold vxll 2-7 x 32 on it.

I'm totally confused. You say you have a Ruger M77 Hawkeye AFRICAN in .223? I thought they only came in calibers for dangerous game like .375 Ruger and .416 Ruger. One chambered in .223 makes no sense to me and if you do have one it must be 1 of 1 ever made.

Some yearfs ago Ruger did offer the rifle and I also wondered why the caliber selection for a big game rifle?? Answer was the rifle was very similar in proportions, weight, etc. and could be used for practice shooting at far lesser cost of ammunition.
They were very nice rifles. Besides the benefits "instructor" pointed out, you could practice with far less recoil. No different than having 22 rifle similar to your big game rifle. Makes perfect sense.
Oh Man…I wanted one of those so bad. If for nothing else they just looked so dang cool. My favorite caliber to boot. Please post pics and enjoy! Dave

And they have a fast twist barrel to utilize good bullets for deer size critters
My rifle came in today. Its much neater in person. Im excited to shoot it. Thats my 35 whelen to the right.

I'd love to happen across one of those 223 Express rifles when I had the funds.
I've always admired the original safari rifles with the quarter rib rear sight,and had planned on purchasing one In 30-06 or 25-06.
But seems every time one came up for sale, I was financially embarrassed.
But the current in 223 would actually get some use, where the others I'd be afraid to take in the woods
