If that one is worth 650.00 what would one from 1964 that is black with a red end be worth? The black one is a much earlier model.

The box pictured is from 1956-1962. Your 1964 box depending on what the end label indicates could either be a Single-Six or Super Blackhawk. Just FYI

It is a super blackhawk bought Aug 6, 1964. I have the receipt for the purchase of it.
What would something like that be worth? The box is in very good shape.

tbird1960,, your Super box is much more common than the Flattop box shown above. (Note the fact that the excellent box above doesn't have a model designation like "S-47" has.) As such, according to the RENE,, the Super boxes like yours will be about $125 in excellent condition.

My apologies for the sidetrack Gary,, so,, free bump for a hard to find box.

According to the RENE the .44 Flattop boxes were used from 1956 to 1962. Somewhere between 26,500 to 27,000 boxes of that type were made. As for the Super Blackhawk that box was used from 1961 to 1973 in which almost 100,000 were made. In the early years of Ruger most people discarded the boxes in the trash. While later on the boxes were kept. This is just a guess, but by observation, I would say probably the Super Blackhawk boxes were kept 5 to 1 over the .44 Flattop boxes. This observation is judged by how many .44 Flattops have their boxes, that I have seen, compared to how many Super Blackhawks have their boxes. Another observation is that I have seen many more Super Blackhawk boxes for sale but very very few .44 Flattop boxes for sale. And if you really want something hard to find try finding a .44 Flattop 10 in. barrel box. And if you do get lucky enough to find one take a trip to the bank first as you will need a few dollars for that one.

Yes, Mr Street! Those 10" 357 and 44 mag boxes are like precious metals.. I watched a 10" 44 FT SN 19XXX with broken end seamed box and original sleeve go for $2600+ on GB last eve.....First blush a good deal...however...JMO, the box would have to be repaired; the GF was an MR3DB; GF and panels would require replacement; the gun's finish was too high for me.(refinish?)..........while I did bid it, the doors were early on blown off for me. Factors? My age.... I have that pkg..... I Passed...BUT.....Did find and capture A 98% WWI 1917 Luger artillary last week so the flame still burns....... 8) .
