I ordered one from the hardware store in Kennebunk Maine after seeing an add in Field and Stream. That was fall of 1961. It cost $105.00.Recall when they were selling for $119 new eons ago. Now around me at least $600 or more for one. Best deer/hog brush gun in my opinion.

I think the Deerfields were around for about 5 years before they pulled the plug. Correct, the receivers on the Deerstalker weren't cast like most Ruger receivers but milled from solid block of steel, a much more timely and expensive procedure.Seems the Gen 2 Deerfields not around very long. Maybe lousy sales? Heard the originals required more expensive machining.
