From the coast of the socialist state of Washington to Prairie county Montana 17 hours, just to shoot prairie dogs.
YEP, what a day.
My $400 Ruger American in 223/556, with a $800 Nikon scope and $800 Gemtech suppressor. Deadly out to 300 yards.
To much fun 😎

Do you know the rancher? How does someone make arrangements for something like this?

I went coyote hunting in north central Washington on large property owned by a friend of a friend, otherwise I had no idea how to go about it. Alas, it was in April 2019 and we didn't see a single coyote in four days. Meanwhile, hundreds of deer and turkey walked past us and laughed.

It is great to see a RA .556 out there doing their thing. I really enjoy them and they don't seem to get a lot of love.

Many years ago, Varmint Hunter Magazine was a hard copy thing; now it's "electronic". Back in the day, there were always ads to get you into the field....... I assume they still do that. It's probably the best way to connect with other varmint hunters these days (?)

My neighbor has been making the trip out here for 30 years and bought property 20+ years ago and has made friends with a couple ranchers,
which gives us access to thousands of acres.

Love my American. Like I mentioned, it's super accurate
Can't beat it for the price.

The V-Max opens 'em up pretty good. The Hawks , Eagles and Coyote's appreciate it 😎
I won't post a picture......

I used to use that exact V-max on woodchucks; it was brutal (in my .223 CZ American pencil bbl and set trigger).
Surprisingly to me, I hit a coyote at 400 yds TWICE with that bullet (he rolled down the hill and came back up for a second dose); he ran like a jet on afterburners after the second hit. Never found him. It was probably that distance that lessened the immediate damage from both hits.

You drove all that way just to shoot Prairie Dogs ?

I've been asked. And just like Jay, the answer was YEP!, and I can't wait to go back. About the most fun I've had with my clothes on.
