I came across an old Single Six 22LR. By the serial number look up it looks like it might be from around 1972. The odd thing is it has full true Ivory grips on it with the Ruger SR emblem in it which I think is the right version for that era. I'm trying to find out more about this gun to know if it's true factory grips or not and if so if this was one of the special series ones as cant find anything out there for it.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Send off for the Ruger Letter of Authenticity along with a cover letter asking if they can verify the grips. Include a picture if you can.

If you use the "Search" feature ( upper right ) you can try and find other threads covering grips, Some here will ask you to take off the grips and post pics of the inside of them and maybe a close up of the "emblem", both front and back.

Not shipped from the factory with those grips.

That gun was made in 1972 according to the RENE Guide.

The medallions on those grips are a later version. Raised eagle type. And I do not see anything in any book about Ruger offering real ivory since the 1950's on any production guns.
