As I have gotten more mature (OK, older) my shooting skill has dropped a bit. I was never a competition level marksman but good enough to make me happy.
I can also say I can hit the broad side of a barn. I just have to move the barn closer.
Went out shooting yesterday and had a lot of fun punching paper. (Just had to move it a little closer.)

It's not just you. I WAS a competitive shooter but that was 55 years ago. Lately, I don't shoot much w/o an optic crutch nor do I do much offhand shooting at distance. It's not that I can't, it's just that I'm more confident with some sort of support beyond 50 yards +/-.

Sadly,, we all age,, and our once sharp eyes,, our hard, rigid muscles get a bit softer,, and our motor skills develop a bit of tremor.
The biggest thing I hate is knowing how I wasted much of my youth NOT doing more serious longer range shooting & learning more at a younger age.
But I can still do pretty good in general,, but I do see that age thing slipping in & reminding me; "You ain't 30 anymore!"

I have no problem hitting targets. In fact, I can hit anything I can see.

Now where did I put that white cane with the red tip. 😎
Mine used to have a red tip. It was accidentally shot off. I need to adjust my scope a little. :p

Happy Father's Day to you and all the Ruger Forum Dads.:)

Shooting skills dropped? Me too. Until not long ago, we shot every week, or at least we tried to. Life has gotten in the way, and our shooting frequency has declined. So when we do get a chance to shoot, it takes me a little while to get into the rhythm. I can get it back, but not while avoiding the range. Shooting more is the only thing that hones my shooting ability.

It's amazing how the years pass, while raising a family. YES, it does affect our ability to find time to hone, or keep our skills, as sharp as they once were.

With my astigmatism, I do okay with pistols once I figure out which rear sight to use, and okay with rifles once I figure out which part of the fuzzy red oval to cover the target with.
I have a similar issue, but they say it's due to scarring on the macula. I have a thing in the middle of my vision, that looks very much like the reticle of my scope. Gets confusing when shooting with both eyes.
