I usually have the closed captions on as I am somewhat hard of hearing. I like to watch Perry Mason at 11:30pm on MeTV after my wife goes to bed. There are several words that get "removed" from the captions. Some of these are susxxxxion, xxxxtail and xxxx for a man's name. The funny thing is they don't bleep the people who are speaking these "bad" words. You can hear it but not read it. 😄

I quick cure for that ...turn off the Closed Captions.
You have some odd view there.

My GF is from Sicily and English is her second language. The captions help her understand the whole content of the show. Then there is the fact that captions show every word in the script much of the background is unintelligible so you can actually "hear" everything in the script.

You should try it.

Hollywood movies are for fun. Rarely reflect real life. I try not too complain about the details and try to watch them for entertainment.

While at Fitzgeralds Casino/Hotel in Reno to pick up my paycheck, Whoopie came in, as she was filming Sister Act at the Fitz and the Nevada Club across the street. My young son was wearing his Star Trek the Next Generation cap and I told him that "Guinan" had just walked in the door and to go say 'hi' to her. He did so and I could overhear her when she spotted his ST-TNG cap. She was very nice to him asking him several queries about watching the show.

Tonight we watched "Ghost" with Patrick Swaze and Whoopie Goldberg and in the subtitles in the last scene Whoopie says "Thank (@@@)"

Who is responsible for cutting out the name of God in broadcast movie subtitles?

His name has become offensive? To whom?

I don't care what or even if you have opposing beliefs that's clearly suppression of free speech and should not be tolerated but sadly it is.

Interesting since I notice they often do not censor movies on TV when they take the name of our Lord in vain. Wonder what they would do if Mohamed was used as a curse word?

A crap storm is what would happen. It goes to show how much militancy has a great influence over dogma and reveals hypocrisy.
