An interesting discussion!
My wife tried CC. I even bought her a special concelked carry purse with built in holster and steel lined straps. She says it's TO HEAVY!!
Like a good husband, I tried to figure out another way..
We were at a Bass Pro a few weeks ago and they had a used LCP in .380. Turned out that she LOVES it and shoots very well. So I bit the bullet and bought her a Crimson Trace grip activated laser for it. She loves that too.
Then, she received an upscale fanny pack ( their back) and the gun fits perfectly!! Big score! She wanted to to start carrying every place we went!! Yea yea.
THEN...... all heck broke out when I explained the rules...NO ALCOHOL while carrying!! She loves her bloody Mary's...

BACK TO SQUARE ONE!

Yes - But only when she travels. In the car and motel. She has never carried on her person. LCR 22WMR. I've asked her to send me a pic of her motel bedside with the LCR - I don't trust her. She once left it at the motel in Rockport, IL and we noticed it 6 hours later as I asked where is your gun. Called the motel and they had it in a safe where we drove 5 hours back to pick it up. It just shows the level of commitment to CCW. I still love the crap out of her.

I found that, especially in my wife's case, a motivating event burns the need to carry into folk's brains.

My wife's was an attempt to grab my eldest out of his stroller. You'd be amazed the amount of damage an untrained, 4'11" woman can do when she goes mama bear. She literally had to be pulled off of him.

He darned near lost an eye. And the cops weren't at all sympathetic.

Yes and no. It depends on where we are going. We retired and moved out of the city so not such a need anymore. However we do have a 38SPL in the car and just bought his & hers Security 380's that were meant for the headboard. But they may end up going with us when taking the 2.5 hour trip to the city on occasion.

I see way too many women who aren't 100% on the SD weapon train. I hear this often: "I'm only going to XYZ and don't want/need to carry my gun" or 'It's too heavy/bulky/problematic to carry in today's outfit'. Although I'm not a big fan of the carry purse, at least it avoids several of these 'excuses'.
Grouch Attack seldom carries a 'purse' so that type of carry is out. Probably wouldn't work anyway as the purse she used to carry looked like a trash can inside.
One can't pick and choose where/when/how they might put in harm's way so picking and choosing when to carry doesn't make any sense. You can have a flat tire a mile from home just as often as 100 miles from home.

The Missus has one of those concealed carry purses with an HK 2000SK in it. I will say that when we are together somewhere she often leaves her purse in the car. When I have asked about her not carrying it she replied "I don't need it when I'm with you because you carry all the time." I've learned over the years to just leave it be.

My wife is finally getting her permit- has an appt next week. It was being stranded in a Forest Service parking lot with no cell service and nightfall approaching that finally gave her the impetus to act.

Now, whether or not she will carry is another matter. She's always been resistant towards the idea of using deadly force. Says that's my responsibility. But I can't be there 24/7. I'm thinking this will start out as carrying when traveling. We will see where it goes from there. I'm just happy for the forward progress.

No but I am familiar with the movie. I am a consummate reader but I don't like stuff like that.
I did read the true story about the very young girl who was kid napped, kept in a shed, then brought in the house to watch porn and have sex with the husband. She eventually had his baby, escaped and turned them in. But I had to skip thru the gory parts about the every day raping of a kidnapped minor. I just cannot get into that crap.

Just (Sunday) got the wife a new EDC. She had a G-43 but liked my SA XDM-Elite, so we went to look at a SA Hellcat. While there she fell in love with a Sig Saur P365 NITRON MICRO-COMPACT. Will be her new EDC. Went to the range this AM and she was complaining because we had to wait for a background check to come back.
