Seeking dimensions of Speed/Service Six rear sight notch

I'm trying to find out the depth and width of the rear sight notch on the Speed Six and Service Six. Could someone with one or both guns and a set of calipers provide this info? Thanks in advance.

Blued 1976 era Speed Six.
The biggest "notch" at the farthest rear point closest to the hammer, I read width 0.0055.
I wasn't able to get a depth because of the way it's shaped.
I took that measurement 2 or 3 times and it was always +/- 0.0003.

hittman, thanks for the quick reply. So the notch width is five and a half thousandths or five and a half hundredths of an inch?

I get .141" wide x .102" deep

Ok, lets try a new battery in this caliper I haven't used for months.

Does 0.3135 sound more realistic?

Just measured 4 guns, all blued :

1973 Service Six (low back) 0.1240 Width 0.0937 Depth
1974 Speed Six (low back) 0.1235 Width 0.0937 Depth
1976 Speed Six (high back) 0.1450 Width 0.0781 Depth
1983 Service Six (high back) 0.1420 Width 0.0781 Depth

CAVEAT: these were just 4 picked randomly from my collection

.3135 sounds right if measuring in centimeters. Reset the calipers correctly after changing the battery?

It's set on inches …. I'm measuring the width immediatly forward of the hammer. Still get 0.3125.

Are you maybe measuring the complete width of the sight cut (basically the width of the hammer) or just the sighting notch (the center cut out)?
