A friend reports his weather station recorded 98 strikes this AM= max was 48 in one hour!

I've lived in Stanley, ID, and Boise and Seattle, I don't remember thunderstorms being very common at all.

You want lightening and thunder? Move to Texas. I read a weather report about the tropical storm Alberto, and as it was forming over the Gulf of Mexico, the thunderheads reached as high as 50,000 feet. Now that is impressive.
